My name is Faical Rayani (fesal). I am international student born and raised in Saudi Arabia. My mother is from Syria and father is from Tunisia. I have been in Minnesota for over 3 years and have been an involved student ever since my first year at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I am a Computer Information Technology major and hope to graduate in May of 2018. I also work for a student led creative media solutions company called Bureau 507.
I am tremendously excited to begin my term as State Chair. Higher education is a noble cause and I will advocate for it with the best of my ability. I want to show legislators that Higher Ed is one of the best investments they can make. Internally, I want to show students that in our unity, there is profound strength. I am also excited to place international students and all underrepresented student populations at the forefront of our conversations.
I have a very cute baby sister and a family that is many miles away in Saudi Arabia. I find that my friends in Students United and student government are like my second family. I like getting to know people and understanding the issues they are going through. No matter how much I know, I continue to learn every conversation I have with someone whether it be a legislator or student. Reach out to me if you have an issue or concern in your own institution or if you just want to talk. I am always look for students to testify with me, so please reach out to me if you a strong story about student debt, financial aid, college affordability, or inclusion and diversity.
My contact information should be available on the Students United page. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
