Join the Students United Giving Cohort

written by || christina devries; Director of development

This winter Students United will host its first ever fundraising group – the Giving Cohort. From January to April 2020 a group of 25 people will get together with friends, family and colleagues to share their experiences with Students United and ask for their networks to support our general operation funding. We are seeking alumni, current students or community members interested in higher education and building power in advocacy-based organizing. If you have been thinking about opportunities to engage with Students United, you are looking to grow your professional skills or you are interested in getting to know a great group of people looking to make higher education more accessible, you should join us. Previous fundraising experience or experience with Students United is not required.

February Conference 2018

This cohort will meet in person three times within the Twin Cities and there will be opportunities to meet in co-working spaces. The cohort will kick off on January 10th and wrap up at the end of April. There will be two phone-in information sessions that we encourage interested folks to call into on Monday, Nov. 11th at 6p.m. and the second call will be Friday, Nov. 15th at noon. The conference call details and application can be found here.

If you are new to Students United or it’s been a few years since you’ve kept up with our advocacy work, this year we are focusing on student voter registration, food and housing insecurity, international student health care, and a signed carbon commitment on each campus. Our fundraising efforts will be focused around these issues too. Students United prides itself on being led by and for students. Our process to choose key issues starts at our annual Spring Conference (previously known as delegates). Every year students from all seven campuses gather to share with one another their top issues for the coming year. These issues transition to the student-led governing board at the start of each school year and the board chooses objectives for the school year.
