Students United Committees of the Board

Our committees are designed to advise the Board of Directors on issues and topics pertaining to the board’s governance. If you have questions regarding committees of the board, please email our State Chair. Dates and times of when our committee’s meet can be found on our events page.

Standing Committees

The board has the ability to create, modify, and end any of its committees. Currently, the board has four standing committees. All committees are advisory committees to the board and have no power outside of their abilities to provide input and suggestions directly to the board.

Delegates Assembly Committee

Purpose:

This committee shares information, ideas, and feedback on issues of interest to Minnesota State university students. The Delegates Assembly can provide feedback, input, and recommendations regarding Students United stances, priorities, and advocacy; provide feedback, input, and recommendations regarding the business of the Board of Directors, including the board’s governing documents and budget conversations; share thoughts, ideas, and recommendations regarding their individual campus-level affairs.

Participation:

The Delegates Assembly shall be composed of Minnesota State university students participating in Students United annual conferences, unless the Board of Directors determines that additional meetings are necessary. Any Minnesota State university student in attendance, including online attendance, may participate in the Delegates Assembly.

Internal Affairs Advisory Committee

Purpose:

This committee is responsible for reviewing the Board of Director’s governing documents; providing guidance, ideas, and recommendations on issues being discussed by the board and/or requested by the board; and annually reviewing progress on the strategic plan and providing relevant input and ideas; providing feedback on budget discussions.

Participation:

The committee shall be composed of two (2) students from each of the seven Minnesota State universities appointed by the campus’s board member. Find your board member’s contact information here.

Legislative Priorities Advisory Committee

Purpose:

This committee is responsible for providing guidance, ideas, and recommendations on Students United’s state and federal legislative advocacy; providing space for committee members to discuss shared legislative topics of interest; reviewing Students United’s state and federal legislative advocacy progress and providing input; recommending state and federal legislative advocacy annual program outcomes for the following year; discussing diversity, equity, inclusion, and access issues at the legislative level; and discussing environmental and sustainability issues at the legislative level.

Participation:

The committee shall be composed of two (2) students from each of the seven Minnesota State universities appointed by the campus’s board member. Find your board member’s contact information here.

System Priorities Advisory Committee

Purpose:

This committee is responsible for providing guidance, ideas, and recommendations on Students United’s system-level advocacy; providing space for committee members to discuss shared system-level topics of interest; reviewing Students United’s system-level advocacy progress and providing input; recommending system-level advocacy annual program outcomes for the following year; discussing diversity, equity, inclusion, and access issues at the system level; and discussing environmental and sustainability issues at the system level.

Participation:
