Fall Conference

This is an annual conference Students United hosts. This conference is the first of two conferences where Students United Board of Directors’ committees meet. These committees are as follows: Delegates Assembly Committee, Diversity Advisory Committee, Environmental and Sustainability Committee, Internal Affairs Committee, and Legislative Affairs Committee. Each committee follows the specific topic stated in its name, with the exception of the delegates assembly. During the fall, the board asked this body to discuss and provide any recommendations to Students United 2020 Legislative Agendas.

To maximize students ability to provide input on the organization’s legislative agendas and a variety of other topics the full-time staff creates a schedule that also provides trainings and informational sessions for students to attend.

Advocacy Conference

This is Students United’s 2nd Annual Advocacy Conference! This event is designed as a two-day training for students who are interested in organizing, civic engagement, and/or advocacy of any kind. The intention of this conference is for students to walk away with tangible tools and practical tips on how to leverage their power and resources as students and also as active members of society after college. This event have over a dozen different speakers ranging from experts in federal higher education based out of Washington DC to individuals who have years of expertise working for and advocating within our own Minnesota State system.

Advocacy Day

This is a limited attendance event Students United organizes each year for students who want to take their advocacy to another level. On Advocacy Day, nearly 50 students from across all Minnesota State universities sit down and meet with their local representatives to discuss Student United’s State Legislative Agenda.

Students who attend Students United’s Advocacy Day, must all be attendees of the Students United Advocacy Conference that occurs on the two days prior to Advocacy Day.

Spring Conference

This is an annual conference Students United hosts. This conference is the second of two conferences where Students United Board of Directors’ committees meet. These committees are as follows: Delegates Assembly Committee, Diversity Advisory Committee, Environmental and Sustainability Committee, Internal Affairs Committee, and Legislative Affairs Committee. Each committee follows the specific topic stated in its name, with the exception of the delegates assembly. During the spring, the board asked this body to discuss and provide any recommendations on the Students United’s Student Platform and next fiscal year budget. In addition, the board gives the assembly the power to choose the organization’s next fiscal year Vice Chair and Treasurer, through an election process.

Federal Lobbying Trip

We bring students to Washington D.C. to advocate on behalf of all Minnesota State university students. The students will be able to talk directly with policy influencers, higher education experts in D.C. and lawmakers.

50th Anniversary Celebration

Students United is celebrating 50 years of advocating and serving the students attending Minnesota’s seven state universities.  This year is the 50th Anniversary of Students United as well as the 30th anniversary of the Penny Fellowship, our largest endowment for student scholarships. This gala will be held at the James J. Hill Center on November 17th for a night of celebrating the organization, as well as launching our new strategic plan to continue being the inclusive voice for all future, current, and former students.
