The 2025 Advocacy in Action Conference was great! We had many students, partners, and advocates in attendance. The energy was high and there were many great conversations I had. I had a few takeaways I wanted to share from my experiences from the Advocacy in Action Conference!

The Sessions I chose to attend the Farm to School programs session led by the Land Stewardship Project, which voiced the importance of bringing healthy, local, fresh food to rural communities. In thinking about the current state of food pantries, this would be critical to revolutionizing student wellbeing and health. These incredible sessions diversified my knowledge and activated me to get more involved with different communities.
The Passion
We hosted our annual Town Hall on Saturday, where I got to hear students talk about the need for affordability, transparency, basic needs, the problems with the allocation model, international student rights protections, more safety measures, and, perhaps most importantly, how systems need to change. I am thankful to the level of vulnerability students had in sharing their experiences which will continue to drive me and the organization.

The Collaboration This year, the conference was in collaboration with LeadMN and the Minnesota State Systems Office. We had a remarkable turnout this year with over 200 students registered! I was able to touch base with more folks about what they are working
on and was able to chat about their projects.
Being in partnership with so many amazing people made this conference such a special experience. Thank you all for your work! Seeing the impact of the Advocacy in Action Conference was amazing, and I’m so grateful to be in this work with you all!
